The Mayers Motor Mount™ serves two purposes. First it was designed as a rugged lifting mechanism which makes outboard power an easy and practical alternative. We made the framework sturdy and large enough to allow the motor to be easily lifted well above the sheer of the boat and clear of the water and waves when it is not in use. The powerful multi-purchase block and tackle make lifting and lowering the motor easy enough so that the smallest person on the boat can do it.

Other models of motor mounts do not offer this advantage. The small motor mount brackets that are available elsewhere are hard to use and will not lift the motor above the sheer of the boat when in the up position. This means that the motor is subject to periodic inundation by waves if left on the stern while sailing or motoring. This often means that your auxiliary motor will be wet and will not start when it is needed.

We also recognized that in order to use the motor to its best capability that we had to allow enough room for the motor to be easily operated and to make it able to be turned in order to better steer the boat while docking. These criteria dictated the dimensions of the Mayers Motor Mount™.

After using the motor mount strictly for its motoring capabilities we found the added feature that it allowed easy access and egress to the water by the people on the boat. It also made a good place to hold on to when swimming around the boat when in the harbor or while out diving. This added benefit makes boating more fun and practical for the people on board.
