Questions and Answers
Question:
I have a 40-foot sailboat and the birds still land on my masthead even though I have installed your Mayers Spiky Star.
Answer:
It is possible that you could install another Mayers Spiky Star™ to help deter birds. Another possibility is that you could use the Mayers Spiky Ball™ in order to compliment the Spiky Star™ that you already have.
Question:
Do you claim 100% efficiency for your product in repelling birds?
Answer:
Absolutely not. We only claim that our product can aid in deterring birds in specific situations. The Mayers Spiky Star™ makes birds less comfortable perching where you have a problem. Whether it is your masthead on your sailboat, your dock pilings or a post on your outside deck, animals are creatures of habit and you can cause them to consider another location where they do not bother you by making them uncomfortable where you do not want them.
Question:
I have large pilings on my dock of 14 - 16 inch diameter. Do you have plans of making a larger model for larger mastheads and dock pilings?
Answer:
That is always a possibility in the future. Now we are trying to introduce this new product to the marine and home public. For now we recommend that you try two Mayers Spiky Star™s in applications where one does not seem sufficient. Whether it is a sailboat masthead, a dock piling or a house deck post, most problems can be resolved by displacing the animal from its chosen perch.
Question:
Why do you stress the non-harmful aspect of the Mayers Spiky Star™ and donate money to wildlife rehabilitation organizations?
Answer:
My bird deterrent products: the Mayers Spiky Star™ and the Mayers Spiky Ball™ were specifically developed to be a non-harmful alternative. We share the planet with nature and wildlife and it seems only sensible to consider the results of whatever we do. Wildlife rehabilitation organizations have been formed in areas all over the country to aid wildlife that has been injured either directly by human contact or indirectly. Birds with fishhooks and line on them plus animals hit by cars are some the direct result of injuries from human interactions with wildlife. The babies left when the mother is killed are the indirect results of this often unintentional and sometimes intentional killing of wildlife by humans. I find contributing to wildlife rehabilitation organizations an opportunity to help with this problem.
